We All Need
Why is he watching nothing on TV,
When his heart's so torn up with regret?
His little girl's crying, waiting for the phone
She longs to hear daddy's voice again.
She's crying, "Daddy I'm sorry
What did I do wrong?"
But he can't bear to call her, ‘cause she'll beg him to come home.
We all need the hand of a compassionate God
To feed the hunger for healing in our hearts.
That's when the questions that are so hard to face
Become the simple beginnings of faith.
How did he get here? Why did he go?
Was it really better in her arms?
What can he tell his little girl? How will she know?
She's not to blame, and she's done nothing wrong.
She's crying, “Daddy, I need you!
Oh daddy, please come home!”
Decisions of a moment cause the pain of future dreams.
We all need the hand of a compassionate God
To feed the hunger for healing in our hearts.
That's when the questions that are so hard to face
Become the simple beginnings of faith.
But it's never too late to say, sorry.
And it's never too late to start again.
Believing in forgiveness is a mountain to climb
But faith can move a mountain if you're willing to try
We all need the hand of a compassionate God
We all need the hand of a compassionate God
To feed the hunger for healing in our hearts.
That's when the questions that are so hard to face
Become the simple beginnings of faith.
