Bio
I suppose it would be foolish of me not to include a little background information about myself, and where it all started. So here it is!
Early days
I was born in Stoke-on-Trent back in September ’67. Just an ordinary kid from an ordinary background (I still am ordinary!), one brother, mum and step-dad. I always wanted to be an engineer, until I discovered the double bass. Then everything changed.
At the age of 14, I started going to the local Methodist church’s youth group (I was drawn like a moth to a flame at the sight a beautiful young lady). It was during this time that I came to discover Jesus as my saviour. The group introduced me to the joys of the guitar. Mum used to have to bribe me with food to stop me playing it. I knew back then that God had given me this gift and that I was to use to serve Him.
I graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire as a double bass specialist in ’89 and soon joined a group, which led me to ‘sunny’ Skegness (the place where God gave me my beautiful wife Tamara). From playing in a cover band I became a high school teacher (currently head of music at William Lovell Church of England School, Stickney) . I have been fortunate in my playing experience having played in a variety of ensembles from Jazz groups to Orchestras in various venues either as a session player or group member. It this variety that leads to my own style of composition, although I would have to say that my music is 90% inspiration 10% perspiration. God has been good to me in the gift of the songs He provides, although more recently I have learnt the value collaboration. This website is my public attempt to share that gift.

Ministry
I believe that many people hide from their feelings because of everyday pressures and how our peers perceive who we are.
Live at Ragamuffin Coffee House, St.Charles, Illnois
The songs I have written over a period of time ask these questions in discovery or rejoicing, frustration or confusion. They speak about a real world, not a fanciful idealist world. In time, perfection will come, but until then we need to make sense of our world. I don’t profess to know the answers – that would be hypocritical – but hopefully through the issues addressed in my songs, someone somewhere will find that spark of hope they’ve been searching for.

What next? - Bookings
If you invite me to share my work with you and your fellowship, church or house group, I will bring my guitar, song book and bible and share with you a selection of songs and spoken word that hopefully will inspire and uplift.
Performing in Hull
Dependant upon the size of the venue I will either perform acoustically (just me and the guitar) or with backings and amplification. A piano (in tune) is a bonus. I will even work with your worship group given time to prepare fully.
At present this is still a relatively new venture and as such I don’t charge for an appearance, but I would appreciate any donations to cover travel and strings etc. Who knows what the future brings!

Some achievements
In the exploration of my musical skills, I spent some time working in Rock groups and as a guitar vocalist. Great fun at times and quite successful. I even managed to get to the national final of Search for a Star 2001.More recent activities include playing bass for the American Drifters at the Killerton Festival, Exeter. I still play electric and double bass as a live session player. If you need a bass player, let me know. I also played Lieutenant Joe Cable in an amateur production of ‘South Pacific’.
